Taken on 13th February, 2009 in Downtown Brooklyn, New York. Nikon D90, Exposure 1/160, Aperture f/6.3, Focal Length 48mm, ISO Speed 200. Show on Flickr.
I've been watching The Impassioned Eye, a 2006 documentary on Henri Cartier-Bresson.
On this rooftop in Brooklyn, I composed the background for this shot, then sat and waited for a passerby to complete it.
I thought about Bresson, about waiting for ?the decisive moment?. People came and went but didn't quite fall into place in the composition, until this guy landed right where I wanted him!
I am not trying to elevate this snap beyond what it is by reference to the Master, just speaking a little of the thoughts running through my head. Although happy with the composition here, I see little to make this work on any other level.
